Position Details

At Hydro One, Regional Maintainer – Cable Splicer Apprentices serve an apprenticeship through the Hydro One/PWU Joint Electrical Training Committee to become a qualified Regional Maintainer - Cable Splicer; qualified candidates are expected to enroll and complete the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development Construction and Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship (309A).

Training & Experience

The apprenticeship is compromised of four terms, with in-school training provided by Hydro One. Wages increase at the beginning of each term. Apprentices receive additional training required to obtain the 309A Construction Maintenance Electrician designation.

Applicants for these positions must have successfully completed Grade 12 or equivalent certification that includes a Grade 12 Mathematics (or equivalent), and a Grade 12 English (or equivalent) and a Senior Science (or equivalent). A valid Ontario driver's license is also required.

Your success is based on a good work ethic, quality skills and a great attitude. Related work experience is an asset.

Location

Apprentice positions will be located in Toronto at the Leaside Transformer Station.

Compensation & Benefits

In addition to enjoying a satisfying career with fellow skilled trade's people, you are paid while learning and enjoying an excellent benefit package. Apprentices start at $20.89/hr which includes benefits, pension and vacation pay, with pay adjustments upon completion of each term.

Position Demands

Regional Maintainer – Cable Splicer Apprentices are required to travel and work throughout the province. The work will appeal to those individuals that enjoy physical work that is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You will be required to work at heights, or underground, in confined spaces, on ladders and in aerial devices.
