A Performance Management & Coaching Workshop
As a manager and leader of others, getting results is your top priority. In
most cases, you can't do it all by yourself: you depend on the
performance of the people you work for, the people you work with, and
the people who work for you. As a manager, you are responsible for
results - but you cannot manage those results.
This
special, open session of Managing Effort: Getting Results, will provide
managers, leaders and coaches with the skills and practical strategies
proven to improve performance and results. Based
on over 25 years of performance research, this training helps the
manager become a more effective coach through facilitating the
development of their people as self-managers.
It deals with the ultimate goal of management - the development of responsible, self-managing individual high-performers.

| Avoiding Assessment Mistakes #4
(Using Screening tools for coaching & management) |
In our last issue we talked about validation and why it is important to use a statistically valid tool. Download full article, Assessing the Assessors: Choosing the Right Recruiting, Screening & Selection Tool for your Business In this issue we will discuss the use of screening tools in coaching and management.
Effective
screening tools help reduce waisted time and identify reasons why a
candidate would commonly fail in a given role. In our experience,
coaching and management based on weaknesses will ultimately make the
individuals weaknesses stronger, ie. they become more consciously
incompetent. Effective psychometric selection tools on the other hand, focus on an individuals strength as they relate to the role.
Tools
with psychometric depth are a great starting point for coaching and
training programs. Just as you wouldn't buy a business without a good,
professional, third-party assessment, high-performance organizations
don't hire and invest in someone until they have assessed a
candidate. The most successful organizations we
work with use science to evaluate their candidates before they chose to
hire and invest in them. If you don't understand a persons
strengths you don't know where you are starting with them in your
development efforts. A psychometric assessment will accurately predict
performance and retention and will tell the trainer what
investment will be needed in order to help turn an individuals
potential into performance.
In our next issue we will discuss:
